Judging
Judging Requirements
Teams should bring one judge for every 3 LDers or PF teams, every 2 Policy teams, every 5 Speech entries, and every 6 Congress entries, rounded up in the case of fractional obligations. You may not cover Varsity LD or Varsity Policy entries with JV-only judges. Congress judges may be swapped into the Speech pool by Tab; qualified Speech judges may also be asked to judge Congress. Judges in all divisions are obligated to stay and judge one round past any round in which their students are active. We will assume judges are staying past their obligation unless we hear otherwise; let us know if you are leaving.
Judges in Varsity Policy and Varsity LD should be strongly qualified to judge their debate events. There are a variety of approaches to varsity debate, so we ask Varsity judges to provide paradigms. Please post your paradigms to
http://judgephilosophies.wikispaces.com.
You may add judges to the tournament at any time, but judges dropped after registration is frozen, even if you have dropped students to compensate, will incur a hefty fee. We’ll also be asking for judge cell numbers on registration, if you have them. Please collect as many as you can from your judges. Being able to contact judges quickly & directly helps us stay on time.
We do not accept half-time judges or judges shared between divisions; you must cover each obligation with a dedicated, full time judge.
Hired Judging
We will be flying in highly qualified judges in all divisions from across the country. The online system will explicitly ask you to request judge hires. Please request early; when our pool is exhausted, we will have to turn requests down. Judge hire requests are due on November 24th, 2008.
Hired Judge Fees:
| Congress | $125 |
| Speech | $125 |
| Public Forum | $125 |
| Policy | $150 |
| LD | $150 |
